How to add a York Central email account in iOS

Go to Settings | Mail, Contacts, Calendars | Add Account

Choose "Other"

Choose "Add Mail Account"

Name: Your name e.g. "Jane Smith"
Email: Your york email address e.g.  janesmith@yorku.ca
Password: Your central email password
Description:(you can call this account whatever you like: e.g. York Univeristy

Press "Next"

Enter the following information

INCOMING MAIL SERVER

Host name: mypost.yorku.ca
User Name: Your email address BEFORE the @yorku.ca e.g. janesmith
Password: Your email password

OUTGOING MAIL SERVER

Host name: mailrelay.yorku.ca
User Name: Your email address BEFORE the @yorku.ca e.g. janesmith
Password: Your email password

Press next and the account should verify.  Press Save.

You should now see the account you just created in "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"

Press on the account to open it
Press on the account under IMAP again

Scroll down to the bottom and open "Advanced"

Scroll down to the bottom of the Advanced screen

Use SSL should be ON
Authentication: Password
Server Port 993

Go back to the Account screen and open SMTP mypost.yorku.ca

Under Primary Server open mailrelay.yorku.ca

Server: ON
Host name: mailrelay.yorku.ca
User Name: Your email address BEFORE the @yorku.ca e.g. janesmith
Password: Your email password
Use SSL: ON
Authentication: Password
Server Port: 587

Press Done

Go back to Account

Press Done

You should now be able to open the Mail app from the home screen of your iOS device. It may take a few minutes to download your mail the first time you use the application.

***In case you have difficulty accessing your emails and have previously setup the email account in your iPhone, we recommend that you delete your email account from your iPhone and re-configure according to the steps above.
